Story By: PHIL ALLAWAY / LEBANON VALLEY SPEEDWAY – WEST LEBANON ,NY – Lebanon Valley Speedway’s opening night was chilly and moist. The schedule was sped up to avoid rain and everything got in. Attrition was the name of the game in the Modifieds, but Andy Bachetti fought through the issues.
By virtue of winning his heat race, Mike King started from pole. The action started very early when Mike Keeler spun on the first lap in turn 1. Kyle Sheldon, Paul Gilardi and Matt Pupello were all collected.
Column By: BOBBY CHALMERS / RPW – WEST LEBANON, NY – Andy Bachetti parked his Modified in victory lane on Opening Night at the Lebanon Valley Speedway. Was he fast? Sure he was. Did he make the right moves? Obviously. However, he was aided by one more thing…attrition.
Several of those who started the $3,000-to-win Modified main did not make it the entire 30 laps. In fact, it seemed like the kiss of doom was getting into the top five.
Case in point, defending Modified Champion Brett Hearn who had absolutely no place to go with Eddie Marshall had an engine expire in his #98. Hearn’s #20 made contact with Marshall, shearing off the right front shock tower on the Madsen Motorsports ride.
Story By: PHIL ALLAWAY / LEBANON VALLEY SPEEDWAY – WEST LEBANON, NY – On Saturday, Lebanon Valley Speedway opened up for the day so that teams could shake down new chassis and old chassis for the upcoming season. Unfortunately, the weather played a big role. It was dry and breezy early on, but incoming rain forced the on-track sessions to be moved up.
Shortly after 6 p.m., the rains arrived and quickly ended the proceedings. While many teams got a good amount of on-track time, others such as Pitcher Motorsports got caught out by the rain and only got limited time. The lack of track time probably won’t hurt Rob Pitcher all that much since he was running the car he plans to race at Albany-Saratoga Speedway. If he can get it finished, he plans on introducing a new chassis for Lebanon Valley this upcoming weekend.
